My name is Isabelle Adato. I am in the 7th grade at Solon Middle School. I will turn 13 on January 26th, 2008. I am very musical: I sing in school choir and in the HaZamir international youth choir (http://www.chscle.org/hazamir/); take private lessons for piano and bassoon; play piano and trombone in my school jazz band; and play bassoon in my school concert band. My goal for this year is to learn to read music written in C-clef, which is an inverted clef on the bass clef. During the summer I play baseball and go to Goldman Union Camp (http://guci.urjcamps.org/) which is a Jewish summer camp in Indiana. Since I was a baby, my favorite thing has been Winnie the Pooh, so for my mitzvah project I am buying honey-bees from the Heifer Project (http://www.heifer.org/), which will be given to low-income families around the world so they can earn money from selling the wax and honey, and also to help the farming and environment in their area. I am very excited to become Bat Mitzvah.

My name is Jillian Rosales. I am 13 years old, in the 7th grade at Roxboro Middle School. I have one little sister and three older half-siblings. My siblings' names in order of oldest to youngest are: Maritza, Leah, Daniel, and Alicia. I like to play lacrosse. I like it because it's always interactive, and there is no point in a game if you can't run after the ball. I play lacrosse in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Girl's Lacrosse program in the summer, winter, and spring. I can't play for my school yet because there isn't an offi cial team until I am in High School.
I am in my school's ski club this year and am learning to snowboard. I also play the fl ute. I have been playing since I was seven years old. I am learning three languages right now (if you count English). Th ey are English, Hebrew, and Spanish. I've been learning English my whole life (of course), Hebrew since I was seven, and Spanish a little bit my whole life (my dad is Cuban-American). When I grow up, I will be what ever I decide to be. I am kind of a quietly competitive person, so one of my goals is to do really well in school. But right now I have no idea what I even want to be, so I can't really tell you.

I am a 7th grader at Wiley Middle School. I play the oboe and am in the Middle School Honors Band this year. I play lacrosse on the Middle School team and soccer on Wiley's team. I love to read, and I have two cats, Peach and Spot. I like doing art projects and doing things with my friends. For my bat mitzvah project I am collecting donations of money and much needed items for the Cleveland Animal Protection League. You can find the list on http://www.clevelandapl.org/ . Click on DONATIONS on the side of the page. There, there will be a link to Œmuch needed items' where it will show you a list of things they need. Items range from things a pet owner might have to common household cleaning supplies. Please consider a donation. We will collect donations of items or checks and deliver them to the APL, or you can send checks directly to the APL, 1729 Willey Ave, Cleveland, 44113. Thank you, Shoshana.

I, Adi Maggielena Shiloh, am proud to announce that we will be celebrating my Bat Mitzvah on Saturday July 5 / Shabbat 2 Tammuz. As everyone probably knows, I'm usually called, "Didi", but here are some things you may not know about this Shiloh girl:
I am an Honor Roll seventh grader at West Geauga Middle School. I take all accelerated classes, and I play trombone in the regular school band and in my school's jazz band. One of my pieces of artwork is currently exhibited in the school's juried show, and I was listed in Who's Who Among Outstanding Students in America. I love long distance running in Track after school, and I'm a member of the Philosophy Club. I'm studying Hebrew at Akiva two evenings a week, too. I love all of my teachers and enjoy learning and being with all my friends in both schools.
In addition to school, I enjoy playing sports for fun with family and friends. I love horseback riding, hiking, photography, cooking, reading, and doing all sorts of creative arts and crafts projects. I also love gardening, camping and fishing. I enjoy spending time with my Grams and Gramps here in Cleveland, too.
And of course, I love traveling! I love going to Israel to see Abba's family, where we get together with tons of relatives from all over the country! I have new twin cousins in Tel Aviv that I hope we'll get to meet soon!
Some of my favorite things to do are community service projects where I get to volunteer to help other people or help animals. My tzedakah project for my Bat Mitzvah is to support the Redlight Children's Campaign, which, "seeks to generate conscious concern and inspire immediate action against child sexploitation. It is a worldwide grassroots initiative whose mission is to reduce the number of children sold to the sex industry and exploited on the Internet." I think using children in this way is horrible, and I hope we can all pitch in a little bit to help, "Expose it. Fight it. End it."

Thanks to my wonderful Bat Mitzvah tutor, Laura Rabinowitz, I will be reading a portion of Parashat Chukat, as well as the Haftarah. I will give a D'var Torah on this fascinating and mysterious parasha, too, that you won't want to miss! Our amazing Marvin Palevsky and Merry Lugasy will also treat us to an unforgettable Kiddush feast.

SJM, 13, enjoys long walks on the beach, romantic candlelight dinners … hey, come on now!
Aaron is an eighth grader at Shaker Middle School. He likes to play sports, especially basketball and football. He competes on both the Soccer and Wrestling teams. Aaron is brilliantly inept at soccer, but he won every wrestling match that he competed in (mostly due to his having broken an arm at a practice and being sidelined for the remainder of the season). He is a huge Cleveland sports fan. He also likes Texas and Ohio State. Aaron's favorite subject in school is science, and his least favorite is English (a sentiment shared by English). Aaron takes all advanced courses and studies Latin; this, he hopes, will help him in his future travels in Latin America. He plays guitar and violin for the school orchestra where he proudly claims his last-stand position. Aaron is interested in politics and is following the election very carefully, for someone who hates all the candidates (there is usually a long rant that follows but I took it out). He studies the fine arts of Judaism such as Mishna, Hebrew, and bible/history with R'Rami Berner, R' Moshe Berger, Mrs. Rachel Lefkovitz, and Mr. Larry Josefovitz. Aaron has lived his entire life in Shaker Heights. His favorite place in the world is Seattle and for the record DETROIT and PITTSBURGH really are OVERSIZED DUMPSTERS (no offense Jeff). Aaron likes to read many books, especially self-help books to help his parents, who desperately need them (long story). Aaron Blah Blah Blah, Blah, Aaron Blah Blah Blah. The End.

Emma Kaufman Rose will become Bat Mitzvah on August 9, 2008. Emma was home schooled for a few years and is now going into seventh grade at The Agnon School. She is an avid reader and likes to write stories, plays, and poetry. She enjoys yoga, babysitting, shopping, and time with her friends. She plays violin and piano. She loves acting and singing, although she finds carrying a tune a challenge! She has a dog, Daisy, and two tortoises, Cheetah and Archie. Emma hopes to attend R.I.S.D. (Rhode Island School of Design) and become a fashion designer.

Sonny Kugelman is a highly energetic 12 year old. She says if you split her in half, all you would be able to find is bubbles made of concentrated creativity. Sonny is a dedicated creative writer, and loves to write stories in her room. The highest grade on her report card is in Language Arts, which pretty much proves what she can do to jazz up boring writing assignments. She'll be going to Fuchs Mizrachi School, starting next school year. Sonny's family (made up of Karen, Harvey, Adam, Eli, Tanya, and brother-in-law, Kyle) is very supportive of her. Whether it's listening to her stories of camp, helping her figure out tough lines in her violin pieces, or just hanging out, they're always there to help. For her Bat Mitzvah project, Sonny had a garage sale and lemonade stand to help raise money to benefit people in Sderot. It was a HUGE success, and she is currently sending $278.10 to Israel.

Noam Gedalia Gelles came into the world 13 years ago on the morning of Shabbat Toldot, with a natural taste for lentils. Today Noam is a seventh-grader at Gross Schechter Day School, where he excels in Hebrew and Judaics, and loves math too even though it doesn't come easily. He likes fencing, reading, rock climbing, and tennis. Among his favorite things are bridges, dogs, hanging out with the guys in the neighborhood, and annoying his younger sister, Shani. Not to mention Israel, serving on the Schechter student council, rereading Harry Potter, and hanging out with big sister Ruth. He is a veteran camper at Ramah-in-the-Berkshires, with three summers already under his belt. Noam lives in Cleveland Heights with mom (Mia), dad (Joe), Shani, and occasionally Ruth. For several years he has been a regular volunteer with Milestones, an organization that helps families touched by autism. Noam's family invites everyone to a kiddush luncheon following services on November 29, Shabbat Toldot. Lentil soup will be served, and you won't even have to sell your birthright to get a bowl!
